Because of the increased width, there's a greater volume of air in the tyre which means lower pressures can be used. The Diesel ProTection is designed with a lightweight casing construction aimed at giving excellent uphill and downhill performance, whereas the wire version is double walled for great anti-snakebite puncture capabilities The Diesel is not intended as a full-on downhill tyre, rather a wide volume, lighter weight extreme freeride tyre for front and rear use.
